Lauri Manner (b. 1983, Suomussalmi, Finland) has been active as a bass player, vocalist and songwriter in various finnish punk and rock bands (Out of Tune, Death by Snoo Snoo, Viimeinen Maailmansota etc.) for the past 20 years. Lately he has been making completely different music as Kadonnut Manner (”the lost continent”, a pun on his last name) and exploring the limits of the acoustic country blues tradition.
Drawing influences from Mississippi John Hurt’s country blues, John Fahey school of American Primitive Guitar playing and finnish folk music, Kadonnut Manner has been described as cinematic, raw and emotional journey to faraway destinations inside your own mind (powered by imagination, not chemicals). It features lots of open tunings, hot syncopation and driving rhythms and it expands the country blues form with things borrowed from different folk traditions, 20th century classical music and other inspiring things.
